Alberta One Call Now Requires Mandatory Attachments Online

29 Jun 2017 10:31 AM | Sean Sullivan (Administrator)

Beginning today, Thursday, June 29, 2017, all online Alberta One-Call locate requests now require supplemental attachments.

When submitting a locate request online through Alberta One-Call’s web portal, you must provide a map of your dig area: either by outlining your dig area on the provided map tool on the submission page, by uploading an attachment that provides a clear visual representation of your dig area, or both.

The map tool is available as soon as you enter the dig site’s address on the online locate-request form. Once the location appears on the map, you can draw a boundary around the dig area using the map’s polygon tool: this will highlight the dig area in green. When submitting an attachment using the map tool, please line up the outline on the map as accurately as you can with the borders of your dig area.

You can also attach a PDF or image file (BMP, GIF, PNG, TIFF) under the sketches and attachments section of the online locate-request form. Please note: files must be no larger than 5 MB in size.

Including an attachment or map helps reduce the risk of damage by providing locators with a clear visual indication of the work area. However, maps and attachments only supplement the information provided on your ticket, they are not a replacement for a clear written description of your dig area. A full written description is still required for Alberta One-Call to process your locate request online.
