Let your MP know that protecting underground infrastructure is important

Federal damage prevention legislation will soon be placed before parliament. In preparation for Bill S-229 being tabled in the House of Commons, the Canadian Common Ground Alliance (CCGA) have launched a new website: ICanDigSafe.caThe website provides a simple way to contact your federal MP.

Let your MP know that preventing damage to underground infrastructure is important to you by visiting ICanDigSafe.ca and selecting a pre-written letter of support to be sent to your Member of Parliament directly from the website.

The hundreds of thousands of kilometres of pipes and cables buried across Canada are our country’s backbone, providing the essential services we frequently take for granted. Damaging a buried utility can deprive homes and businesses of essential services and can be very dangerous for the workers involved. Each year, damage to underground infrastructure costs Canadians more than $1 billion.

Let your MP know that the cost of damaging buried utilities is too high. Go to ICanDigSafe.ca and fill out your letter of support.

And show your support online by following us at @AB_CGA and @CanadianCGA on Twitter and posting with the hashtag #SupportS229.

Your voice matters. Your support will move Bill S-229 forward.
