Celebrating the 150th anniversary of the Senate of Canada’s first sitting, Senator Grant Mitchell has awarded twelve commemorative medals to Canadian residents or Canadian organizations who are working to make Canada a better place to live.
One of the twelve Canadians awarded with a commemorative medal was our own Mike Sullivan, President of Alberta One-Call and Executive Director of the Canadian Common Ground Alliance! Mike was recognized for his outstanding commitment to damage prevention of underground infrastructure in Canada, both for his work instituting ClickBeforeYouDig.com and for his expertise and leadership in advancing Bill S-229, An Act respecting underground infrastructure safety, which was adopted by the Senate of Canada in May and now awaits first reading in the House of Commons.
“On this important anniversary of the Senate of Canada,” Senator Mitchell said in a media release, “I am delighted to award a medal to these outstanding individuals and organizations whose work reflects Canadian values of diversity, acceptance, generosity, fairness and equality.”
Mike is the past chair of the Alberta Common Ground Alliance and a member of our executive committee. He currently sits on our Board of Directors as representative of the one-call stakeholder group.
